Overview
This page contains different rubrics or other assessment tools that I use in my classes. Some of them are for current or forthcoming assignments. The materials found on this page are available for students and visitors to this site.

Standards
This link takes you to a page of standards for all subject areas. Where appropriate or possible, I have included multiple links for a wider range of perspectives. If you want to find an online version of your state's particular standards documents click here.

Rubrics
I like rubrics because they force me to determine ahead of time what it is I'm trying to accomplish through a particular assignment and thus allow me to tell the students up front what they need to accomplish. I try to have students complete them first as a means of self-evaluation; this helps me understand how they see their own performance.

  • Testing
This section will include useful information on those tests my students need to take: SAT9, SAT, HSEE, and the Golden State Exam. (Nother here yet, but a few links on the homepage will help you get started).
  • Tools
The following tools help me keep track of students' work during projects and presentations. I take my notes on them and then give these to the students. Sometimes I will run off extra copies and have students evaluate their peers when they present.
    1. Group Evaluation Form: This quarter-sheet form allows me to keep notes about how groups work on a day or throughout a project. I can then cut up the page and give the sheets to the different groups or take notes on their work over four different days. I find this useful. Easily adapted to meet other needs.
    2. Designing Standards-Based Instruction This .pdf document offers you a two-page step-by-step workshop on designing curriculum that is aligned with standards.
