Carolina's work on this assignment reminds me how important it is to use authentic texts and give my students the chance to read texts that will mean something to them. Not only does the assignment help her read better, but it helps her to appreciate that reading offers the chance to think and learn about important ideas. Note: the second row is crossed out because we were not reading fiction. I told them to cross it out so that that portion of the page did not distract them since we had used those questions the first day when reading "Cinderella."
