2008 marks the tenth anniversary of the publication of my first book, The English Teacher's Companion. Now in its third edition, ETC will become the primary focus of my professional writing for the foreseeable future. The books listed below are all special to me, each one coming from my work in the class as teacher of English or ACCESS, a program that continues to thrive under the leadership of my colleague Morgan Hallabrin. I have two books coming out in the next year: The Teacher's Essential Guide to Content Area Reading (Scholastic) and (working title) What's the Big Idea? (Heinemann). After that, I will focus exclusively on an entirely new edition of The English Teacher's Companion, taking it, my readers, and myself into the next generation of teaching and publishing. None of these books would be possible if it weren't for my colleagues, my editors, and the wonderful students I work with each day.
