| The Picture
by Alicia Pivorotto, sophomore, Burlingame High School I've been there To the memorial I saw all the names It seemed endless How many names Are on that wall? Too many It was a smooth granite. Dark Because that's how you felt When you saw it The names were carved in I ran my fingers over it And I thought I heard the Screams of the soldiers And I thought I heard the Cries of the families Just from one brush against it. Was this the wall's real purpose? For us to feel Their pain I felt it I feel it now Looking at this picture. |
